Apostle Dr. W. Phillip Yarborough, Jr
Apostle Dr. Yarborough is the founder and senior pastor of Rhema Word Deliverance Ministries. “Dr. Phil”, as most people know him; has a style of teaching and preaching that has earned him the nickname “Minister Break it Down”. Dr. Yarborough is also a highly decorated Army veteran, who in his latter years of service, took on the mantle of acting unit Chaplain in the Maryland Army National Guard for the 290th Military Police Company and 29th Infantry Division (Light). He also served as a youth mentor for Big Brothers of Maryland, 4-H of Maryland, and Project Raise. He was ordained to the office of Outreach Pastor of Foundation of Faith Ministries in Tallahassee, Fl. in 2001. Later that same year while standing guard duty at the Pentagon after the fateful 9/11 attacks, Dr. Yarborough received the vision to start his own church and ministry directly hearing from God though James 1:22-25 to go forth teaching God’s people to become “doers” of the Word, and thus; Rhema Word Deliverance Ministries began. Dr. Yarborough is the husband of Pastor Vorrie Yarborough.
Pastor Vorrie Yarborough
Vorrie L. Yarborough was born September 6, 1960, in New Brunswick, New Jersey to the late Robert Jones and the late Jannie McLeod. She has one sister, Co-Pastor Barbara Holmes of Jersey City, New Jersey. Vorrie graduated from Franklin High School in 1978, and joined the Army in 1980. Her Military career lasted for six years. Vorrie is an LPN and is presently working toward opening a transitional house for abused women and pregnant teenagers. Vorrie endured many drastic and difficult times throughout her childhood, and most of her adult life. In 1996, when she had determined that life was not worth living, and even made preparations to end her life, something happened; she attended a church service one morning. After hearing Pastor Ra’Ifa preach the Word of God, she surrendered her life to the Lord and truly received salvation. As a result of that act of obedience, years later, Vorrie was ordained an Evangelist in June 2005. In the year of 2007, Vorrie married her soul mate, Bishop Phillip Yarborough, Jr. and together they have 4 children. In 2012, Vorrie was ordained to the office of Pastor and Women's Ministry Leader.
OUR CHURCH
Rhema Word Deliverance Ministries is a non-denominational, full Gospel, deliverance ministry. We are non-denominatinal because Dr. Yarborough holds fast to the word of John 3:3. To see the kingdom of God, you must be born again.
We are a deliverance ministry. This means that we lean more toward teaching the Gospel, versus the traditional preaching of it. This is done so that worshipers are empowered with the knowledge of how to be released from wordly burdens and vices. Dr. Yarborough has an extensive background in Family Life Counseling, as well as the scriptures. And it is this combined approach that contributes to the ability of the ministers of Rhema Word to assist people in being delivered from all sorts of addictions, mental stresses, and even physical ailments.
Rhema Word Deliverance Ministries is not the traditional church enviroment. We believe in free worship, and a "come as you are" attitude. As such, we are not regimented to a doctrine of dress codes, or rules and regulations like some other churches you may have visited or been a part of in the past. What our goal is, is to introduce you to the Lord Jesus, and to allow the Holy Spirit to work on each person according to the perfect will of God, the Father.
